Tuesday’s Treat: Frosted Pumpkin Bites 

Welcome to our Tuesday Treat article of the week!  This is where we feature a delicious dog treat recipe for your four-legged friend.  Today we are excited to teach you how to make Frosted Pumpkin Bites!  Be sure to share this recipe with your friends and family so that other dogs can enjoy it as well!

Main Ingredients 

  • ½ cup canned pumpkin
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup oats

Frosting Ingredients 

  • ½ cup natural peanut butter
  • 2 ½ tsp whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions for Cookies 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a cooking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Use an electric mixer to mix the pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs.
  3. Gradually add in whole wheat flour and oats.
  4. Transfer the dough to a well-floured countertop or surface.
  5. Knead gently/as needed until it forms a cohesive ball.
  6. Use a rolling pin to roll dough out to ¼ thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut into shapes.  Try to use a dog-boned shaped cookie cutter if possible!
  7. Use a spatula to transfer cookies to baking sheet and bake on 350 degrees for 20-24 minutes.
  8. Allow cookies to cool completely before going to the next step.

Instructions for Frosting 

  1. In a microwave, warm ½ cup peanut butter for 15 seconds.
  2. Add water and stir well.
  3. Add flour and stir.
  4. While the icing is still warm, spread over cooled cookies.  Re-heat for another 10 seconds if it becomes difficult to spread.
  5. The frosting will harden a bit.
  6. It is now time for your dogs to ENJOY this tasty treat!
