We are happy that dogs can eat peaches. This popular summer fruit contains many nutrients like vitamins A and C and has tons of antioxidants. Another good thing about peaches is that they are high in fiber! However, one thing you should consider is that peaches contain much sugar compared to other fruits. Therefore, it is best to stick to the 90/10 rule. This means that 90 percent of your dog’s caloric intake should come from regular food and 10 percent from treats (like peaches). It is essential to know that the peach pit, stem, and leaves contain trace amounts of cyanide which is toxic to dogs. The pit is considered a choking hazard that can cause intestinal blockage.

How do you serve peaches to dogs? As always, check with your veterinarian before introducing new food to your dog. They may recommend the best serving size for your dog. You must wash the peach to remove any pesticides or chemicals. Remove the stem and leaves. Next, you will slice the peach and remove all traces of the pit.

You can feed your dog fresh peach slices or chunks. Another option is frozen peaches which will be more convenient for you and your pup. They make a refreshing and tasty treat! Monitor your dog after eating peaches, as some new foods may cause upset stomach, diarrhea, or other adverse reactions. Peaches may be your dog’s new favorite snack!
