Tips to Repair Pet Damage at Home

We love dogs, but they are known to be destructive at times. No worries, you can eliminate destruction by training accordingly.

However, we are here to talk to you about how to repair pet damage at home. We refer to chewed-up wood, urination on rugs, and scratched upholstery. Check out our list of tips below to help you along the way.

Chewed-up wood furniture – Unfortunately, dogs are known to chew on table bases and legs. You can sand the rough edges and remove the debris for already chewed-up furniture. You may need to incorporate wood filler, depending on how much damage there is. Stain the wood and allow it to dry. Use sandpaper to polish off bumps.

Pee on rugs (or carpets) – Some dogs pee on rugs, and this happens for multiple reasons. Although badly stained rugs will likely need to be cleaned by a professional, you can invest in a good stain and odor eliminator to rid the rugs of pee smell and stains.

Scratched upholstery – Dogs can dig paws into the upholstery of couches and chairs. For a minor snag, you can use a punch needle to push the loose threads back into the sofa. You may use some shoe polish to rub the scratches away if you have a leather couch.

The good news is that you can prevent all of the pet damage from occurring in the first place. For chewed-up furniture or scratched upholstery, you can restrict the area from your pet and keep an eye out for them. For peeing on rugs, closely monitor your dog’s potty schedule and look for signs that they need to go outside. Always ensure your dog receives enough mental and physical stimulation throughout the day, which will help lessen their attempt at destructive behavior.
