Spotlight Breed: Jackabee
Welcome to our Spotlight Breed article of the week. We are excited to teach you about a fun and unique breed from around the globe! Our spotlight breed of the week is the Jackabee. Given the name, you should not be surprised that the Jackabee is a crossbreed composed of the Beagle and Jack Russell Terrier. This crossbreed has a huge personality. There is much more to learn, so continue reading!
Let’s start by talking about the adaptability factor of the Jackabee.
We believe that this breed is pretty adaptable. The Jackabee can live in small or large homes and thrive more if they have the space for mental and physical stimulation. The crossbreed is highly sensitive, so more patience must be incorporated into their daily lives. The Jackabee does not like being alone for long periods as they depend on its owners. The breed isn’t a match if you are away from home for long periods.
The Jackabee has a friendliness score of four out of five. The breed loves its family, and forming solid bonds is something that they enjoy most. The Jackabee is known to be okay around other dogs, often stealing the spotlight and being the “star of the show.” However, you may run into difficulties when a Jackabee encounters children or strangers, as they may become indifferent and anxious. As with any dog, basic obedience and socialization training will work wonders!
It is always interesting when you train a Jackabee. They are an intelligent crossbreed, but they can be stubborn too. They can form an association between a prompt, action, and consequence. However, they may take longer to catch on. Implementing positive reinforcement with rewards in training sessions will help tremendously!
The Jackabee has a high prey drive and will do whatever it takes to get what they want. The breed strongly desires to chase, including other animals or cars. This dog should be on a leash or kept in an enclosed space to prevent accidents. The breed also has a high tendency to bark or howl. The Jackabee will let you know what’s on its mind!
Are you looking for a fun, active, and intelligent crossbreed? If so, the Jackabee may be for you! We will leave you with a fun fact about the breed: The Jackabee’s short, wiry coat requires little maintenance. With such short fur, little brushing is required; you can likely go as low as once-a-week grooming sessions.
