Spotlight Breed French Bulldog

Spotlight Breed: French Bulldog

Thank you for stopping by!  Our Spotlight Breed this week is the French Bulldog also known as the Frenchie! Created in England to be a miniature bulldog, this breed is an excellent companion! Bat-eared and oddly beautiful, the French Bulldog has a unique appeal.  They are small but substantial in build with a powerful muscular body.  A Frenchie’s coat is short and can be groomed with ease.

The breed is extremely versatile as sometimes they love to play, but other times they like to spend time relaxing.  These attributes can carry over into their training sessions.  Frenchie’s are intelligent and training them can be easy if you make it seem like a game and keep it fun!  They can think freely which may result in a stubborn nature.

The French Bulldog companion level is sky high!  If you want an outdoor dog who can be left alone for long periods, the Frenchie is not for you!  This dog breed loves to be a companion to their owners, and they expect the same love in return.  They get along with everyone, but socialization training will be key to get them to that point.

If you are interested in adopting a well-loved companion breed, the Frenchie is a good choice for you!  We will leave you with our favorite quote regarding the breed. “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most space in your heart.”
