Why is Dog Training so Important?

Owning a dog can bring us tons of joy.  However, without proper training, your dog will struggle to integrate with friends, family, and other dogs.  As a good dog owner, is your responsibility to ensure that your dog is properly trained.  Ideally, the best time to train a dog is when they are a puppy as they will be a lot more receptive to training and will have a greater capacity of learning.  So why is dog training so important?  Please check out our list below!

  1. Life Skills – Training your dog gives them skills that it needs to live peacefully among humans and other animals.  Failure to properly train your dog could result in destructive behaviors.
  2.  Stress Relief – Fun fact: well-trained dogs can integrate well with humans and are calm and relaxed.  If your dog has not been properly trained, it could be scared and aggressive.  This also goes for if your dog is overly excited and jumps on visitors.  You can train them to greet people properly and alleviate stress.
  3. Avoid Conflict – It’s important that your dog gets experience socializing with other people and other animals. If your dog is uncomfortable with others, it could lead to conflict and even injury to your dog or someone else’s pet. There will come a time when your dog will be approached by another dog at some point in time.  To avoid anxiety or aggression around other animals, your dog should interact with others regularly.

These are just a few reasons as to why dog training is important.  Always know that it is never too late to train your dog.  There are additional benefits which you will experience throughout their training!
