Tuesday’s Treat: Doggie Carrot Cake Bites

Ingredients 

  • One cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ cup of almond or peanut butter (avoid xylitol)
  • Two large eggs
  • Four cups of oat flour
  • One cup of grated carrots
  • ½ cup of unsweetened coconut flakes

Instructions 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Use a handheld electric mixer to beat the applesauce, almond or peanut butter, and eggs in a large bowl.
  3. Add in the oat flour, carrots, and coconut flakes until incorporated.
  4. Transfer the dough to a surface lightly sprinkled with oat flour and knead three to four times until it comes together.
  5. Using a rolling pin sprinkled with oat flour, roll the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Grab your favorite cookie cutters, cut out the desired shapes, and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Place in the oven and bake until the treats are dry and the edges are golden (about 20 minutes).
  8. Remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool completely.
