“Tuesday Treat of the Week”: Apple Slices Delight

Welcome to our “Tuesday Treat of the Week” series, where we bring you
simple and delicious homemade treats for your furry friend. This week,
we’re kicking things off with a wholesome and tail-waggingly good
recipe featuring a fall favorite: apple slices for dogs. Packed with
natural sweetness and essential nutrients, these treats are perfect
for celebrating the changing seasons and giving your canine companion
a taste of autumn
Recipe: Apple Slices Delight for Dogs

Ingredients
one fresh apple (make sure it’s a dog-safe variety like Gala,
Fuji, or Honeycrisp)

Water (for soaking)

Optional: A sprinkle of cinnamon (ensure it’s dog-safe and
consult your vet)

Instructions

1.      Wash the apple thoroughly to remove any dirt and residue.

2.      Remove the apple’s core and seeds. Dogs should not consume the
core and seeds, so discard them.

3.      Slice the apple into thin, bite-sized pieces. You can leave
the skin on, as it contains valuable nutrients and fiber.

4.      If using cinnamon, lightly sprinkle a tiny amount on the apple
slices. Cinnamon adds a warm flavor and is believed to have potential
health benefits for dogs, but always consult your veterinarian before
introducing new ingredients.

5.      Place the apple slices in a bowl of water to prevent them from
browning. Soaking them for a few minutes should suffice.

6.      Remove the slices from the water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

7.      Arrange the slices on a plate or tray and let them air dry for
a little while to remove excess moisture.

8.      Once the slices are dry, they’re ready to serve your pup!

Why Your Dog Will Love These Treats

Apple slices offer a crunchy and satisfying texture that dogs enjoy,
and they’re also a great source of dietary fiber, vitamins A and C,
and antioxidants. As a low-calorie and natural treat, they can be a
fantastic addition to your dog’s snack repertoire. The optional
addition of cinnamon adds a touch of warmth and may also have
potential anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Just
remember to introduce new ingredients slowly and in moderation.
