Dogs & Baby Gates

One of the most effective dog training tools is baby gates. It will help you manage your dog’s environment and keep them from disruptive behaviors. We created a list of reasons you should use baby gates as a training aid for your four-legged friend. Please see below for more information!

  1. Potty Training – You may not want your dog to have full access to the house, even if they are getting the hang of potty training. If you keep your dog in one room using a baby gate, you will ensure that they do not have any accidents in other areas of the house.
  2. Blocking off Areas – Using baby gates keeps your dog from getting into areas of the house where they are not yet successful. For example, you may have installed new flooring in the living room or want to keep your dog out of the nursery room. A baby gate will create a barrier!
  3. Kitchen Counter – Many bad dog habits are created in the kitchen! While busy cooking, you can block off the kitchen with a baby gate. This will ensure that your four-legged friend doesn’t try to steal any food.
  4. A Safe Space – Baby gates can provide a safe space from dangerous parts of the home, including stairs. Not only that, but you can teach your dog to go behind the baby gate to find their “safe space.”
  5. An Alternative to Crate Training – Crate training is recommended for the early stages of puppy or new dog training. Baby gates can be helpful if you decide not to crate train your dog. Pick a small room in the house and make it the “dog room.”

You must choose the right baby gate for your dog. There are many types of baby gates to choose from. Some can fit the size of a door frame, and some gates even extend to the length of a room. Ensure the gate is sturdy because dogs are known to try pushing or jumping over gates!
