Spotlight Breed: Frenchton
Welcome to our Spotlight Breed article of the week. This article will help you learn more about a fun and unique dog breed from around the world! We are excited to spotlight the Frenchton today. This breed is a mixed breed dog – a cross between a Boston Terrier and a French Bulldog. If we had to select three words to define this breed, we would choose playful, friendly, and chill. However, there is so much more to learn about this breed.
The Frenchton can adapt well to many situations. The breed can live in small apartments or larger houses. One of the best things about the breed is that they are well-suited for novice owners. This breed is simple and easygoing compared to others. However, the Frenchton does not tolerate being alone for long periods. This breed does best when a family member is home during the day or if you can take them to work.
The breed ranks very high on the friendliness scale. They are highly affectionate with family and love to form bonds with their “pack.” They also enjoy being around children and other dogs. You may also discover that they are comfortable around strangers as well. With this being said, the Frenchton may not be the best guard dog!
Training a Frenchton may come with some obstacles. The breed is intelligent so that it can form an association between a prompt, an action, and a consequence. However, they may possess a “what’s in it for me?” attitude. We recommend implementing positive reinforcement into your training sessions to yield the best results!
One of the most interesting facts about the Frenchton is that they love to play and relax. They are always up for a game of fetch, but they also enjoy chilling out on the couch with their owners! Are you looking for a fun dog breed that will keep you on your toes? If so, then the Frenchton may be for you! We will leave you with our favorite quote about the breed: “Advice from a Frenchton: Short legs make the climb more rewarding, he who barks and runs away lives to bark another day, and nothing cheers the soul like a good belly rub!”
