Spotlight Breed Frenchton

Spotlight Breed: Frenchton

Welcome to our Spotlight Breed article of the week.  This is where we feature a unique dog breed from around the globe.  We are excited to spotlight the Frenchton today!  The Frenchton is a mixed breed dog with a cross between a French Bulldog and a Boston Terrier.  These dogs are known to have many different traits which we will outline in our article.

Frenchtons may also be known as Frenchbo, Faux Frenchbo, or Froston.  One thing you need to know about this breed is that they know how to charm!  They are easy travel companions and love to go on adventures with the family.  The Frenchton can adapt easily which means that they would be okay in small apartments or big houses.  However, if you are away from the house a lot, the Frenchton isn’t the best dog breed for you.  They are very dependent and love to hang out with their pack often!  We can say that they are one of the friendliest dog breeds ever.  They are affectionate with family, children, other dogs, and even strangers!

Like all mixed breed dogs, the appearance of the Frenchton can be a wild card.  In general, the Frenchton size is small, and these dogs have compact bodies.  Frenchtons may not look like the most athletic dogs, but they tend to be muscular with a jaunty gate.  The dog weighs between 15-25 pounds, which is close to the average size of Boston terriers.

Frenchtons tend to be described as chilled-out dogs.  On a perfect day, the breed would love a brisk walk, playing with toys, with added treats and snuggles!  The good thing is that Frenchtons are easier to groom than many other dogs thanks to their short, sleek, low-maintenance coats.  They will require a bath about once a month, giving extra attention to those smushy-face wrinkles to avoid infection.

If you are looking for a fun-loving and playful dog breed, the Frenchton may be for you!  We will leave you with our favorite quote about the breed: “If you are lucky, a Frenchton will come into your life, steal your heart, and change everything!”
