Spotlight Breed: Doxle
Welcome to our Spotlight Breed article of the week! This is where we feature a fun and unique dog breed from around the globe. We are excited to spotlight the Doxle today! A cross between dachshund and beagle dog breeds, the Doxle is an adorable family watchdog. They are playful, intelligent, and affectionate. However, there are so many more traits to look for in this breed!
Doxles are also known as Beaschunds, Beweenies, and Doxies. One thing that you should know about the breed is that they do not tolerate being alone for long periods of time. Breeds such as the Doxle bond very closely with their family and are more prone to worry or even panic when left alone by their owner. This can lead to destruction, whining, barking, and chewing which is never a good thing! The Doxle is very sensitive so patience will be key in making sure that they are happy pups.
The Doxle is known for their all-around friendliness. They are affectionate with family, children, other dogs, and even strangers! Even though this breed is friendly, we still recommend that you enroll them in training or doggy daycare. This will help them get more acquainted and comfortable around other people and dogs.
The breed can be easily trained if done correctly. Easy to train dogs such as the Doxle are more adept at forming an association between a prompt, an action, and a consequence very quickly. The Doxle also has a high prey drive, tendency to bark or howl, and a wanderlust potential. If they see something that they want, they will try anything to get their paws on it!
If you are looking for a fun-loving, intelligent, and adventurous dog breed, the Doxle may be for you! We will leave you with our favorite quote about the breed: “Doxle: Heritage of love, noble of heart, gentle of spirit, regal of stature…I shall grow to become your faithful companion, your defender, and your best friend
