The Bedlington Terrier has a wonderful sense of adaptability. The breed is well suited for small home and large home living. In addition, the breed works well for novice dog owners because they are relatively low maintenance. Let’s talk about the friendliness of the Bedlington Terrier. The breed is affectionate with family and children. They can also tolerate other dogs and strangers. Regardless of their charming natural nature, we recommend that all dogs partake in obedience and socialization training to strengthen their manners even more.

Health and grooming needs should be considered when it comes to the Bedlington Terrier. The crisp, curly coat of the breed is a mix of soft and harsh wiry hair. While the hair does not shed much, it grows very quickly and needs to be clipped every few months!

We mentioned that the Bedlington Terrier was bred as a hunter’s sidekick. To no surprise, the breed is easy to train. Easy-to-train dogs such as the Bedlington Terrier are more adept at quickly forming an association between a prompt, an action, and a consequence. Be aware of the high intelligence level of the Bedlington Terrier. The breed has a “what’s in it for me?” attitude which will require positive reinforcement during training sessions.

Are you looking for an intelligent dog breed that loves to show affection? If so, the Bedlington Terrier may be for you! We will leave you with our favorite quote about the breed: “Bedlington Terrier: You’re always there when I need you devoted, loving, and true. No one could wish for anything more than a faithful friend like you!”
