The breed used scent and sight for hunting and flushing game into hunters’ nets to control village rodent populations.
The Basenji is a dog breed that can adapt well. It doesn’t matter what home environment this dog breed lives in. They are comfortable in tiny apartment homes or larger houses. The Basenji is considered suitable for novice pet owners. This is because the breed is easier to take care of than other breeds. Since they are so intelligent, they may possess a “what’s in it for me?” attitude. This is when you will need to use rewards and games to teach them to want to comply with your requests. High-energy dogs such as the Basenji are always ready and waiting for action! Think about it. The Basenji was initially bred to perform a canine job. This dog breed must always be mentally and physically stimulated.
