Halloween Tricks & Treats of the Dog World

Halloween is one of the most fun holidays for children and adults.  However, it may be dangerous to our four-legged friends.  It is important to make sure that your dog stays safe from tricks or dangers this Halloween.  Continue reading our article to learn more about the tricks and treats of the dog world.  After all, they need to have a safe and enjoyable holiday as well.

Tricks – You must be cautious about items which may be in dog’s reach.  If you are having an adult Halloween party, keep the alcohol out of reach.  These beverages may be tasty for adults, but they could result in a trip to the emergency vet clinic if your dog consumes it.  Alcohol may also cause severe and possible life-threatening damage to your dog’s kidneys.

Let’s talk about candy.  Hard candies can serve as a choking hazard to your dog.  Chocolate candy is considered toxic as well.  It contains theobromine, which can build up quickly in a dog’s system and cause vomiting, seizures, and fatal effects.  Do not forget about the Halloween decorations!  Things like string lights and tinsel can be hazardous if your dog decides to chew on them.  The most important thing: keep things out of dog’s reach!!!

Treats – You can work wonders by distracting your dog with treats during the Halloween season.  Give them something that is safe and healthy to snack or chew on.  This will keep them occupied!  We recommend a sweet potato treat.  Seasonal and fun, these treats offer fiber, vitamins, and other nutrients.

Halloween is exciting, magical, and fun!  Your dog should be able to join in on the fun too.  Just do your part and make sure that things such as alcohol, candy, and decorations are out of reach.  Dogs are curious and will do anything they can to get something that they want.  Give them a fun and healthy treat to distract them instead!
