Teaching Your Dog How to Spin
Teaching your dog how to spin (or twirl) is a great trick! You can simply train your dog to turn in one direction or teach them how to alternate between left and right. Grab the treats, and let’s get to work! Follow our steps below to teach your dog this new trick.
- Start with your dog in a standing position.
- Hold a treat in front of your dog’s nose. Slowly pull the treat toward the side of your dog’s head, so it has to turn its head to follow the treat.
- Keep pulling the treat in a circle around your dog’s body so it will have to spin to keep track of the treat.
- Has your dog followed the treat in a complete circle? If so, quickly give your dog the treat!
- Once your dog understands the action, add the command word “spin” before repeating steps two and three.
- Spend about five minutes, several times a day, practicing the spin. Your dog will be spinning in a complete circle before you know it!
