It takes a little extra time for the Golden Mountain Dog to adapt to certain situations. They will need additional safety and assurance during the transition. Given that this breed needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation, they are not ideal for small home or apartment living. Honestly, this dog breed is not suitable for novice owners. The GMD may be sensitive, independent thinking, and assertive, making it more difficult for a first-time dog parent to manage.

The friendliness of the Golden Mountain Dog ranks high amongst other breeds. They are incredibly affectionate with family. They pride themselves on creating strong bonds with their “pack.” They also enjoy being around children and other dogs. You may run into issues when it comes to interaction with strangers. However, with proper socialization training, they should be good to go!

We mentioned the Golden Mountain Dog’s intelligence level earlier. They are bright and have no problem showing it too! Easy to train dogs like this are good at forming associations between prompts, actions, and consequences. We should mention that the breed may have a “what’s in it for me?” attitude. This means that you will need to incorporate positive reinforcement into your training sessions.
