Rainy Days with Your Pup!

Rainy Days with Your Pup!

Rain comes and goes.  This means that more time outdoors can yield more of a mess!  While dogs enjoy playing in the rain, there are many pups who do not like going on walks when the weather is wet and rainy.  In fact, some dogs refuse to go outside.  We are happy to provide some tips to help make the best experience possible.

Have you ever heard of a dog raincoat?  They are certainly a thing!  Not only do they keep your dog dry, but they make them more comfortable while they are outside.  It also reduces the amount of toweling off that dog owners will need to do.  There are several different rain jackets for dogs.  Some of them have hoods and/or sleeves and some are durable and light which helps if you are caught in a downpour.  Dog boots are another option!  They are completely waterproof and provide a rubber sole for good grip on slippery surfaces.  They will also protect your pup’s feet from mud, slush, and big puddles!

Be sure to have a quick-dry towel on hand!  Your pup is bound to get wet so having a fast-drying towel will help you clean up after severe weather is thrown your way.  Dog car seat covers are a necessity if you plan to travel around with your pup during the strangest weather conditions.  Always remember that messy dogs mean messy cars.  The cargo area covers can help protect the vehicle from water and mud, making it much easier to take your pup anywhere.

There are even portable dog paw cleaners that are perfect to have on hand after muddy hikes and rainy walks.  All you will nee to do is add water and dip your dog’s dirty paws in one at a time.  This is a great way to prevent mud and water from entering the house.  As you can see, there are a lot of things that can be done to ensure that your pup is well prepared for all weather conditions!  Be sure to share your favorite tip(s) with your family and friends.  We love to help out at Hot Dog on a Leash!
