Dog Friendly Vacation Tips
Planning a trip with your four-legged friend should be fun! We all need to step away from time to time and that includes out dogs as well. We thought it would be helpful to share a list of tips on how to plan a fun, stress-free, and fulfilling trip with your dog. Be sure to share the tips with your family and friends!
- Plan everything. We understand that you can’t plan everything to the minute but having something in place will help things run a lot smoother. Once you choose a destination, spend a chunk of time researching everything pet-friendly you might want to do. Check out websites like GoPetFriendly.com for more information.
- Book pet-friendly accommodations. Never sneak your dog into a place where they shouldn’t be! Be sure that you find places to stay which allow pets. Keep in mind that you may need to pay a deposit or fee to bring your pet along, but it may be waived at the end of your stay.
- Think comfort. Focus on packing items that make your dog comfortable. Bring along their bed, blankets, toys, bowls, food, and treats as if they were home. We recommend that you bring an extra leash too!
- Safety first. In addition to the comfortable items, when you travel with your dog, bring a pet-specific first aid kit, a tool to remove a tick, preferred paw treatments, and anything else you may find appropriate to the season and specific location.
- Have fun! This is the most important tip that we have to offer. Try not to stress about things. Your dog is enjoying the scenery and you should too! Find things to do that you’ll both enjoy, which includes that much needed downtime. You are on vacation after all!
Planning your vacation around your dog simply means that you get to do fun stuff together away from home! It is an amazing way to bond with your four-legged friend while exploring new places. Make an adventure out of it and capture all the memories that you can!
