Dog-Friendly Hotel Chains

Dog-Friendly Hotel Chains

Leaving for vacation can be tough on pet owners as they must decide to keep them at a local boarding facility (we like to call it a Doggie Hotel!) or bring them along!  With today’s day and age, there are many hotel chains that have become pet friendly.  In fact, many of them are placing high focus on our four-legged friends by providing bark parks and trails made specifically for the dogs.  Talk about having it made!  More than 70 percent of luxury, mid-scale, and economy hotels now allow pets, according to a 2016 survey by the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

Before we tell you more about the hotel chains, let’s talk about a Pet Travel Checklist.  We suggest that you pack the following items in your dog’s bag:

  • A blanket. make sure that it smells like “home”! It will help the dog feel comfortable and relaxed.
  • Collapsible travel bowls. You know that the pups need to eat and drink while away, right? These are easy to handle and do not take up much space at all! Of course, you will need to pack food and some fun treats.
  • A leash! This is pretty much a given, even if your dog is trained to be off leash.  It is for the protection of them and others.
  • Be sure to pack some of their favorite toys.
  • Potty bags. You just never know when you will need them!

The list can go on and on, but we suggest these items.  Feel free to add to your checklist! Now let’s talk about those Pet-Friendly Hotel Chains:

  • Best Western
  • Choice Hotels
  • DoubleTree by Hilton
  • Extended Stay America
  • Four Seasons
  • Hampton Inn
  • Home2Suites by Hilton
  • Marriott
  • Ritz-Carlton
  • Westin

We advise that you call your hotel ahead of time to confirm their dog policies.  Sometimes they charge an extra deposit and/or fee.  In addition, you may only be able to bring one dog.  All of the hotels are different, so it is always best to call ahead!
