Dangerous Toys for Dogs

Dogs love to play with new and exciting toys. However, it is good to know that not all toys are created equal! Of course, toys like rug ropes, sports balls, plush toys, and interactive games are ideal for our four-legged friends, but there are some dangerous toys that you should be aware of. Check out our list below and share it with fellow dog owners. Everyone should be mindful of these not-so-ideal toys.

Poor Quality Toys – The bad news is that no safety standards require dog toy manufacturers to test the levels of chemicals in their products. You must consider the toy’s origin and ensure it is made of non-hazardous materials.

Laser Pointers – You may think that it’s cute to incorporate a laser pointer into playtime with your dog. However, there is much danger to consider with this toy. Although the laser pointer may be okay in short sessions, it can cause more damage in the long run. The reason is that your dog will learn to always be on the hunt for moving light patterns.

Human Toys – Just because humans play with them doesn’t mean a dog can. Some human toys may pose risks to dogs, such as choking hazards.

Inspecting a human toy if you plan to repurpose it for a dog’s use is always the best practice.

Plastic Chew Bones – Typically, dog bones are made for consumption. If you have an aggressive chewer, giving them a plastic bone may not be a good idea. Plastic bones are meant for play, and an aggressive chewer may try to eat them, causing several health concerns!
