This breed has a rich history. The original name for the breed was “Tazi.” Hailing from Afghanistan, the Afghan is thought to date back to the pre-Christian era. The Afghan Hound is one of the oldest dog breeds.

One of the best things about the breed is that they are affectionate and adaptable. These dogs do well in any size of the home – from small apartments to multi-story homes. The Afghan Hound is considered to be one of the most sensitive dogs. The breed has a huge heart, and it shows. They love to form strong bonds with their “pack” and do not tolerate being alone for long periods.

The Afghan Hound is affectionate with family, children, and other dogs. However, there may be issues when it comes to strangers. As a recommendation, you should ensure that the Afghan Hound receives enough socialization at a young age. This will ensure that their encounters with strangers are not too rough.

Owners of this breed may have a difficult time with training. The Afghan Hound is extremely intelligent and will use this to their advantage!
