Ingredients

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup oats

1/2 cup beef broth (low sodium)

1/4 cup natural peanut butter (unsalted)

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

one egg

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and oats, ensuring they are thoroughly mixed.

In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the beef broth for about 30 seconds until warm but not boiling.

Add the warm beef broth, peanut butter, applesauce, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix well until the dough comes together. Add a little more flour or water to achieve the right consistency if needed.

Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently until it becomes smooth and pliable.

Roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes, such as bones or hearts.

Transfer the cut-out shapes to the prepared baking sheet and place them about 1 inch apart.

Bake in the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and crisp.

Once baked, remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Store the treats in an airtight container for up to two weeks or freeze them for longer shelf life.
