Spotlight Breed: Boxer

One of the many reasons why the doggie would is so interesting is that there are so many different breeds!  Just like humans, each breed has its own unique personality.  Check back every week where we will feature a new and exciting breed!  The Spotlight Breed this week is the Boxer!

There is a rich history which comes with the Boxer breed.  They can be traced to Germany of the late 1800s and early 20th century.  Boxers have done many jobs over the years including: cattle dog, police dog, athlete, watchdog, and even a guide dog for the blind!

The temperament of a Boxer can be summed up in three words: bright, fun-loving and active!  Boxers are the whole doggy package as they are very loyal, intelligent and courageous.  In fact, Boxers have been among America’s most popular dog breeds for a very long time.  They are the perfect watchdog and family guardian as they will meet threats without any fear.  The general appearance of a Boxer is medium-sized, square-built of good substance with a short back, strong limbs and tight fitting coat.  Their muscles are well developed due to their strength and agility.

Here are a few of our favorite Boxer “Property Laws”:

  1. If I like it, it’s mine!
    2. If I saw it first, it’s mine!
    3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine!
    4. If it used to be yours, get over it!
    5. If it’s broken, it’s yours!
