Pit Bulls A Bad & Inaccurate Reputation

Pit Bulls: A Bad & Inaccurate Reputation

Did you know that many insurance companies, housing companies, and cities ban pit bulls? The bad part about it is that there are a lot of false statistics when it comes to characterizing various dog breeds. Unfortunately, these incorrect numbers have led many people and organizations to inaccurately label some breeds as “aggressive”. We have several opinions on that which will be displayed below.

First of all, it is important to know that dogs are not born bad. Dogs are not aggressive immediately after they are born. We have witnessed that the “mean” dogs were not properly socialized at puppies. Trust us, it makes a HUGE difference! Furthermore, there is a possibility that they have been abused along the way. People choose pit bulls for dog fighting simply because they are strong and a large breed. This doesn’t mean that they are horrible by nature.

You will see pit bulls on the “aggressive” list. Other dogs who may appear are St. Bernards or German Shepherds. Did you know that only certain dog bites are reported? Think about comparing pit bulls to chihuahuas. Which breed do you think is reported for more bites? Unfortunately, the pit bull takes the hit because of its poor reputation. The truth is that there might be a correlation between dog size and aggression. Instead of big dogs commonly being the aggressor, it’s dogs with a Napoleon complex who are more likely to get aggressive.

These are just a few things to think about! Pit bulls aren’t just not aggressive, they are exceptionally sweet! In fact, they make wonderful family dogs. Ask any pit bull owner. They will agree. If you are looking for a loyal and affectionate dog, consider a pit bull. With their bad reputation there tends to be a lot of them up for adoption. You very well could be saving a dog’s life if you choose to adopt a pit.
