Getting Creative with Your Dog!

Getting Creative with Your Dog!

One of the best things about our four-legged friends is that they are usually up for anything, no matter the circumstances. There are so many dog enrichment ideas to keep both of you entertained. A little creativity on your end can create hours of fun with your dog. We are here to help with some recommendations below!

Together Time – Take a close look at your calendar and block our certain times for you to spend with your dog. As we all know, life is busy, and time gets away from us. It’s best to be proactive to ensure that you are spending enough time with your furry friend. Find a quiet place and give your dog all of your attention. Ditch the cell phone for now and focus primarily on your pup!

Puzzles – DIY puzzles work wonders for mental stimulation. You can start by placing small pieces of dog food or treats inside of a box. See if they can obtain the treat. From there, you can create more challenging puzzles to get their brain working.

Exploring – Enrichment ideas for dogs can come in the form of finding new ways to explore familiar places. Honestly, these places do not need to be outdoors! You can always create temporary indoor spaces so that your dog can explore. Hide some treats or favorite toys in the space and your dog will have a good time fetching them.

Pet Picnic – You can do this outside or even on your living room floor. Create a cozy spot with some of your dog’s favorite toys and some containers with their favorite foods. They will absolutely love this!

Treasure Hunt – Hunting for food or treats is one of those fun canine enrichment ideas that let dogs use their problem-solving skills. You should hide treats or toys in various boxes and encourage your dog to hunt for them. You can always lead by example and show them how to do it first. It may take them some time to catch on!

Do not forget the classics like hide and seek or fetch! Always keep in mind that your dog needs excitement in their lives just as much as we do. A little creativity on your end can make a huge difference for them!
