Five Signs Your Dog Needs to Potty 

It is essential that you set up a potty schedule with your dog. This will ensure that your dog does not go inside the home. We understand that dogs will have the occasional accident in the house, but there are sure signs to look for that will help you determine that they need a potty break, outlined below.

  1. Your dog is sniffing and circling around the house. Your dog is looking for an area to potty in if your dog is sniffing the ground. Your dog is also trying to find a place to potty if they are circling an area.
  2. Your dog is whining. Dogs do a great job of communicating. If a dog is whining, it may be trying to tell you they need a potty break.
  3. Your dog is experiencing a sudden behavior change. For example, if your dog is playing with a toy and they stop what they are doing immediately, chances are, it may need a potty break.
  4. Your dog is licking their groin area. Licking can be a sign that your dog needs to go potty.
  5. Your dog is hanging around the door. House-trained dogs might tell you they need to potty by hanging around the door. This is one of the most obvious signs to look for!
