Tuesday’s Treat: Pupcakes!

 Welcome to our Tuesday Treat article of the week. This is where we share a fun and healthy dog treat recipe for your four-legged friend! We are excited to feature Pupcakes today. This is the perfect recipe for a dog who is celebrating a special occasion – graduation obedience school, a birthday, or even just being a good boy or girl! Please be sure to share the recipe with your friends and family so that other dogs can enjoy this tasty treat as well.

Ingredients for the Pupcakes

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • ½ cup peanut butter (creamy)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ¾ cup water

Ingredients for the Frosting

  • 1 lb. potatoes
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 2-4 tbsp. water
  • 12 small dog bone biscuits (optional)

Instructions for Pupcakes

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 12-hole muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Place bananas in a bowl and mash with a potato masher until smooth. Add peanut butter, honey, and eggs. Whisk well until smooth.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, oil, and water. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Divide between cupcakes until ¾ full. Bake 22 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  5. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool for 30 minutes before topping with frosting

Instructions for Frosting

  1. Place potato in a large pot of water. Bring to a boil. Cook potato for 20 minutes until very soft.
  2. Drain, then return into empty pot. Add yogurt, honey, and water. Beat until smooth and creamy. It should have the consistency like frosting!
  3. Transfer to piping bag. Pipe in swirling motion onto cupcakes.
  4. Optional: Top with a dog biscuit.
  5. It is now time for your pup to ENJOY this special celebratory treat!!!
