Spotlight Breed: Affenwich
Welcome to our Spotlight Breed of the week. We are excited to teach you about a fun and unique breed from around the world! Our spotlight breed of the week is the Affenwich. This breed is interesting because it is new on the scene of crossbreeds. This breed stems from the parent breeds Affenpinscher and Norwich Terrier. If we had to sum up the Affenwich in one word, we would choose energetic! However, there is much more to learn, so please continue reading!
Let’s start with the adaptability of the breed. The Affenwich is so-so when it comes to small home or apartment living. We mentioned that this breed is energetic. It thrives on mental and physical stimulation, so they must live where they can receive emotions that fuel their energy. We do not consider this breed very sensitive as they are usually easy-going and thick-skinned.
The Affenwich is a friendly dog. It may seem like the breed has never met a stranger. They always want the spotlight and love to be around their family, other dogs, children, and new people. Anyone who gives this breed attention is their new best friend! The Affenwich loves to form strong bonds with their family.
Training an Affenwich may be interesting at times. We say that because the breed is intelligent, but they are also stubborn! The breed can associate a prompt, an action, and a consequence. However, due to their stubbornness, the Affenwich often has a “what’s in it for me?” attitude. Positive reinforcement will work well while training this breed!
The Affenwich is always ready and willing to play the next game of fetch or go on a new and exciting adventure! The breed has much stamina to play for long periods! Therefore, a dog owner with an active lifestyle is highly recommended.
Are you looking for a cute and active dog breed? If so, the Affenwich may be for you! We will leave you with a fun fact about the breed: The Affenwich dog has superior intelligence. They understand and memorize new commands in 15-25 repetitions, making them one of the most intelligent dogs in the intelligence ranking!
