How to Tell if Your Dog Has Rabies

How to Tell if Your Dog Has Rabies

We prioritize ensuring our four-legged friends are happy, healthy, and safe. Unfortunately, dogs can get rabies during their lifetime, one of the most dreaded diseases. Rabies will require immediate action! Your dog may pass it on to anyone else that it bites, which can be a disaster.

Rabies is primarily an infectious disease of the brain and spinal cord in humans and dogs. It is transmitted from other dogs through physical contact. Unfortunately, if your dog has been in contact with a rabid dog, you should prompt immediate treatment. The virus is primarily transmitted through biting. If your dog has unexplained wounds on its body, you will need to speak to a vet.

Some warning signs that you need to look for include the following:

  • Irritability
  • Low activity levels
  • Restlessness
  • Fever
  • Biting
  • Increased aggression

Early symptoms usually appear around ten days after the dog is infected. If your dog experiences any of the signs that we mentioned, rabies may be at an early stage. Avoid allowing your pet to reach the most severe stages of rabies. We hope you take this seriously, as rabies can impact your dog and everyone around you.
