Dogs & Festivals – Tips For Success

Have you ever gone to a festival and noticed a ton of dogs? Some dogs may look like they are enjoying the crowd. Other dogs may be timid. Dog-friendly events are the best, but it is essential to determine if your dog is well-suited for large groups. Below are some tips for enjoying outdoor festivals with your furry friend!

  1. Is the festival dog-friendly? This is the first step that you should take! Do not take your dog to a festival unless you are 100% sure that pets are allowed. Some festivals have strict no-pet policies. If you are in doubt, leave your dog at home.
  2. Is your dog festival-friendly? Not every dog can handle outdoor festivals. Dogs that may be well-suited for outdoor festivals include well-socialized dogs that get along with other dogs, strangers, and children, are comfortable in noisy environments, and leash-trained dogs that possess basic obedience skills.
  3. Prepare for hot weather. Summer is hot! It is important to keep your dog cool and hydrated. Pack some doggie sunglasses, a portable fan, a water bottle, and a bowl for hydration. Locate shaded areas during the festival to give your dog a much-needed break from the sun.
  4. Be aware of loud noises. Prepare for noisy crowds and loud music. Stand far from speakers and stay far away from large groups.

Your goal is to have fun! Festivals are an excellent way to enjoy quality time with your dog. Always remember to avoid overdoing it!
