Can Dogs Get Head Lice from Humans? 

Let’s start with the most important thing –dogs cannot get head lice from humans. The thing about head lice is that they prefer a nice warm temperature which is why they tend to navigate toward humans. Thankfully for you and your dog, if anyone in your family encounters head lice, you do not have to worry about your dog getting it too. Lice cannot be transferred to your dog from humans.

You should know there is always a chance of lice falling from a human onto a dog. Remember that the lice we find on human heads will not survive for long on any surface other than a human head. Once again, human head lice need the temperature of humans to survive. However, dogs can get their specific lice. When this happens, you need to treat your dog’s lice much like the lice humans get.
