Spotlight Breed Chihuahua

Spotlight Breed: Chihuahua

One of the many reasons why the doggie world is so interesting is that there are so many breeds!  Just like humans, each breed has its own unique personality.  Check back every week where we will feature and talk about a new and exciting breed!  The Chihuahua is our Spotlight Breed this week.

Chihuahua’s may have the reputation of being the “mean dog on the block”, but when given the chance to know them, they are actually very loyal and friendly.  This type of dog is good for an apartment or small home as they only grow to be up to 6 lbs… This means that they are classified as a “Toy”.  The length of their coat can vary from short to long with a variety of different color.

Their energy levels are normally through the roof!  Be ready to give them plenty of attention.  Chihuahua’s have a very distinct bark in which they use often!  However, with proper behavioral training, pet owners can get this under control.  Overall, they are excellent companion dogs.  They love attention and are super loyal to their owners.  The Chihuahua would be ideal for someone who can spend a lot of time and energy with their dog.

A quote by Mark Twain once stated, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight.  It’s the size of the fight in the dog.”  This holds true to Chihuahua’s!
