Spotlight Breed: German Shepherd

One of the many reasons why the doggie world is so interesting is that there are so many breeds!  Just like humans, each breed has its own unique personality.  Check back every week where we will feature and talk about a new and exciting breed!  The German Shepherd is our Spotlight Breed this week.

Think of this breed as one of the most hardworking, intelligent dog breeds out there!  This breed originated in Germany and comes with a lot of special and unique characteristics.  Some people may assume that German Shepherd’s appear standoffish, but their chiseled physique plays a huge role in this notion.  The average German Shepherd weighs anywhere between 75-95 pounds and stand around 2 feet tall at the shoulder.

You can easily spot a German Shepherd!  They have bushy tails and double thick coats.  Fun fact:  The breed can be one of eleven colors with black and white being the most popular!  The personality of a German Shepherd is very unique.  Think of this breed as a combination of a babysitter and a police officer.  They are very loyal and will protect those who they care about!  In fact, this breed was the first to be trained as a seeing-eye dog.
